Im new to this chip/ecu/tuning scene,, I am a motorcycle mechanic, and have worked on several ECU's on motorcycles and standalone ECU's on cars, but.. im a little lost here with all this BDM, OBD2 etc....
I bought a Galetto / FGtech clone with the stand to connect directly to the ECU using the pins, I want to remove the DPF on a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe 2.2crdi, Bosch 16edc ecu..
I cant get the damn thing to connect to the ECU, im getting an error saying the driver is incorrect.. hmm... neither the OBD nor the Pin thingie work.. doing everything by the book.. software runs ok, I do get sometimes an error asking to turn off or on the dashboard,, tried that but still nothing
so.. what Im thinking is,, can I use a OBD2 cable to read and write the bin file from and on the ECU? or do I have to use the Galetti clone?
Im not really sure why I need to use this galetti box.. to be honest..
I have several programs/software to remove the DPF so that should not be a problem..
I bought a gds2 and the supplier installed gds2 and tech2win but only north american in tech2win but I need european cars daiagnostics. Can anyone do this for me or what I should do?

I need esi tronic 2013. I have downloaded a version called u + u1, but when it is finish installing it tells me to insert dvd to continue. When I installed I should insert DVD1 2013 and I think also DVD2 or 3, but I did not have these DVDs, so I chose to cancel.
Maybe it was because I chose cancel that I have to insert DVD when starting ESI tronic. Can that be the reason?
Or...
I found the link to download U+U1 on this page somewhere. Are they just updates to 2013, so I have to install 2013 first?

Im new to the automotive tuning side of this forum. I have been into the truck and bus side pretty heavy. I have a friend that would like to tune his car (2005 Chevy Impala, 3.4L V6). I do not know what it would take to even do this. Currently, I have a Nexiq USB/Bluetooth Link (Nexiq 125032) with the deutsch "Y" 6/9 pin adapter. I know Nexiq makes an OBD-II adapter for the USB/Bluetooth link that I have but will it work with automotive ECM/ECUs or is the Nexiq system just for heavy duty vehicles? If it will not work, what adapter would you suggest for the job?
Also, I would need to know what program(s) to use to tune it once I can get connected to the vehicle. I know with HD vehicles, the programs are engine specific. Meaning that if you have a CAT motor, you need CAT's program to change things. Are car ECM's like this as well? If i remember correctly, there are a whole slew of different programs for tuning cars but I cant be sure. If they are engine specific, could somebody point me in the direction of a program for changing parameters on Chevrolet motors and if not engine specific, can I get some suggestions on a good tuning program that will tune Chevys.

I used to Windows OS dating back to 95/NT Days.... i used Linux as a server here and there but not as a Station.... Until Win8.1 and VMWare started crashing every 5-10 minutes when i place a load on USB
So i figured if it crashes underload with usb then what could happen when i'm going to use VMWare for programing/flashing modules ??? Do i need that of course not
So i tried Ubuntu and VMWare no problems at all.... for a Week already......
Now i'm thinking maybe i should start switching all of my vms to ubuntu or centos.....
Until i start the BMW and Mercedes part.... I use ICOM/INPA/E-net cable for BMW Software but it's running under WinOS(BSODing SS Environment)
The only way that i'm thinking of at this time is
1) WinXP-Pro to ack as a connecting host where Itool Radar and DIAG Emulator will run with HOST-ONLY(169.254.x.x/16) Connection
2) WinXP-PRO OR Win7 With INPA pointing to #1
3) WinXP-PRO OR Win7 E-Sys pointing to #1
4) DIS/GT1 pointing to #1
5) Progman pointing to #1
6) ISTA P/D pointing to #1
