my golf tdi 105 bhp edc16 engine has just cracked the block and reading other posts this engine is prone to this failure.
I was wondering if anybody can alter the timing on the map so i can put a earlier more reliable 130 bhp engine in, as the 105 picks up crankshaft speed from the rear main oil seal behind the flywheel and the 130 has the sensor in the block
Edit: just a update fitted a new rear main seal and timing pickup from the later 105 bhp, made a hole for the crankshaft sensor in the block and used the original 105 bhp wiring loom.

I am looking at getting equipment to perform Jaguar & Land Rover diagnostics. I am confused about which interface I should get for working with JLR SDD IDS software. Should I go for the VCM2 or the Mongoose Pro (both clones)? Also, I just read about DA-VINA. Which one is good for JLR?

Installing the adapter K-Line (For example VAG-COM 409.1) or VAG K + CAN Commander 1.4
1 For TechStream adapter KLine (eg VAG-COM) or VAG K + CAN Commander 1.4, you must install the driver USB-COM, from the adapter. Usually, it comes with a disk for the adapter.
2 Copy the folder J2534KCANv1.0.0.9 of the archive in the folder C: Program FilesToyota DiagnosticsTechstream.
3 Next, go to the copied folder and run the file j2534KCAN.exe.
4 In the settings, select the COM-port adapter and type - KLine or VAG K + CAN, and then click "Save" and "Exit".
5 Run TechStream, in Setup-> VIM Select select "J2534 (04.04) K + CAN Driver".

3 After installing the drivers USB-COM (p. Above), you must run the setup.exe file in the folder C: MiniVCI and select one of the
Passthru drivers and click "Select".
4 Start TechStream, in Setup-> VIM Select select "XHorce - MVCI".

i've got an error when i try to update tech2win licence.
when i click ok to select usb interface, tech2win closes????
i've read it maybe a firewall problem, it was working ok until recently, i've also tested the mdi head on another system which confirmed head was ok.
any ideas how to fix???
