For each software function there exists a particular unlock code. This unlock code depends on an ID which is fix for each function and on an Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). Therefore a particular unlock code does only work in the corresponding car. To prevent missuse all activated funtions are checked periodically. It is not possible to change a headunit from one car to another without unlocking the functions with the codes for the new car. The security locking will not come immediately. There is a "security buffer" of currently five checks for each function. This means: a function unlocked with a wrong code will work for five startup cycles until it will be locked again.
For a correct functionality the following things must be guaranteed:
- VIN of your testcar must be known
- unlock codes for this VIN must be known
- the VIN has to be correctly coded inside the IOController eepromo
- the codes have to be correctly stored inside the headunit
- the headunit has to run in the car to receive Can messages

HI guys last week i changed hours on 3 different new holland tractors , each tractor had a MC68HCP11EIVFN MOTOROLLA 52 PIN MCU, i removed each mcu with hot air and programmed them sucesfully , everything worked perfect , next day each of the 3 customers rang me to tell me that their dashes had completely stopped working or that they were onyy showing some of the display, i reprogrammed new mcu,s and pud them back on the board but i still have the same problem there is no componentd missing off any board but could the hot air i used to remove the mcu,s have caused a problem , i checked all the soldering and its fine
