I’ve decided to dedicate more time to reading, writing, and modifying ECUs. To get started, I’ve bought the following equipment:
Scanmatik2 (clone)
PCMflash (clone)
Kess & Ktag (clone)
My goal is to read and write newer ECUs (EDC17, MED17) from 2010 onward via OBD, without having to remove them from the vehicle. I’ve come across methods using PCMflash + Tactrix Openport 2.0, but I’m unsure of the best way to begin.
Before anyone says it:
I know there are plenty of threads on this topic, but I haven’t been able to find exactly what I need.
What I’d like to achieve:
Reading and writing ECUs via OBD.
Specific functions like:
DPF and EGR deactivation
DTC deletion
TPROT removal
What I want to avoid:
Removing the ECU from the car.
If it turns out that reading and writing isn’t possible via OBD for all EDC17 and MED17 ECUs, I’d really appreciate it if someone could share a list or some guidance on:
Which cars/ECUs support OBD reading/writing.
Which ones require the ECU to be removed, with no way around it.
I’d be very grateful if someone could help me get started or provide a clear solution to my problem.
